Popular Sri Lankan band The Islanders performs on the Shaw Community Stage at the 2011 Surrey Fusion Festival at Holland Park, Surrey, BC, Canada on Sunday, July 17, 2011.
Members of the band are Eraj (vocals), Nilantha (traditional drums and octopad), Amal (bass), Ryan (lead guitar), Julian (drums), Roshane (guitar) and Roshan (Latin percussion).
Despite bad weather and soggy grounds, the two-day festival celebrating music, food and culture attracted over 100,000 people and featured 35 cultural pavilions and over 100 acts on four stages.
The 2010 Fusion Festival, which attracted over 90,000 people, won the prestigious Star Award at the 2011 Canadian Event Industry Awards (CEIA) event in Toronto, Ontario. The City was recognized in the category of Best Cultural Event for 2010.
