Eshan Denipitiya and Nupathie performing Sri Lankan Fusion Music – Gajaga Wannama & Turkish March



Watch Young Sri Lankan Musician and Pianist Eshan Denipitiya (13) with Nupathie Nilambara Geeganage on Sri Lankan traditional Drums(Geta Bera / Pahata rata Yak Bera ) and Djembe Performing this Instrumental at the “Sri Lankan Life” TV contest in July 2009 which got them thru to the final Round of the 12 finalists.
This is a Sri lankan Fusion Music peice based on the traditional Sri Lankan “Gajaga Wannama” to a Mozart’s classic “The Turkish March” and also with an Indian Raga based on Hansaddhwani .
Dont miss the section where Eshan plays the Gajaga wannama from the left hand and the Turkish March from the right Hand at the same time in sync supported by Nupathie on the Geta Beraya which is the highlight.
Eshan is the Grand Son of Sri Lanka’s Legendary Music Director Mr. Patrick Denipitiya and Son of popular Music Director Mr Mahesh Denipitiya and Archt. Nandika Denipitiya.
Nupathie Nilambara Geeganage is the Grand son of Sri Lanka’s Traditional Drummer/Dancer and Guru Mr K S Fernando and son of Mr and Mrs Renuka Fernando who is also a popular Traditional Dancing Teacher.
Eshan is a student at St Peter’s College Colombo 4. and currently studies Piano under Ms Ruvini Hapugalle. He has won many awards for Piano and Drums including the award for the Overall Winner as The Young Musician of the Year 2008 organized by the Institute of Western Music and Speech (IWMS) Sri Lanka.
Nupathie is a Student of Mr Ravibandhu Vidhyapathy.
